Our judge had an incredibly difficult decision to make, with 32 beautiful photographs to choose from from the subject A Winter’s Scene
January - Photography Competition Results
Coming in at first place was…FROZEN PASTURES (left) taken by CATHERINE INGHAM! Our judge explained why she chose this photo as the winner.
“It’s a wonderful representation of a winter scene. You’ve got the mist, the blue skies, the frozen grass, and little areas of orange showing the last signs of autumn.”
Second place was awarded to AMONGST THE FROST by EMMA SHARPLES!
“How lovely to see two deer in one photograph – add the frost and it’s a lovely winter image. The photographer must have been so quiet and delicate to capture this photos - this takes pure skill and patience - a wonderful photograph.”
Rounding out the top three this month was RISING FOG by ANDREW STANNARD. Our judge really enjoyed this shot, saying:
“A stunning photograph of our unique Visitor Village – the sepia colour pallet adds a cold, wintery feel while still providing the wonder of our floating reserve.”
Feel free to let us know what you think about the judge’s selections via either our Facebook or Twitter pages. February's competition is currently open and has the theme of Winter Birds; they’re all over the reserve, if you can’t see them you can definitely hear them!
The deadline for entries is midnight on 05/03/2019 and the only condition is that your photograph was taken on Brockholes nature reserve. To enter, just email tjolly@lancswt.org.uk (a maximum of three photos per person is permitted). More information, including the full set of rules and Terms and Conditions, can be viewed here.
